Aiden stomped his way back to the castle. He was angrier at himself that he screwed up the perfect date with his jealousy. After scanning the area every few steps in hopes to see Isabelle to apologize, he realized she was already inside. Colin was talking with another wolf that he did not recognize at the edge of the lake. The wolf was shorter than Colin but broader. It reminded Aiden of an ape he saw at the zoo, especially with his dark hair and eyes, and he was quite hairy from what he could see. The sight of Colin fully clothed made most of his anger disappear. A part of him was still pissed that he would swim in the lake as naked as the day he was born when he knew that he was on a date not too far from where he was swimming. Every wolf knows that one male is not going to want another male around him when in the presence of the she-wolf he is courting. That brings out the worst in every dominant male wolf. He approached them and Colin turned to face him.

I should not have been out there. I’m sorry. Colin mind linked to Aiden.

Apology accepted. I shouldn’t have exploded like I did. Aiden said back.

“Alpha, this is Beta Vince. He is from the neighboring pack, Forest Valley. He has come to give us a report on the rogue pack we are having trouble with.” Colin introduced Aiden to the Beta.

Aiden outstretched his hand, “Thank you, Beta. What is the status?”

Vince shook his hand and gripped his harder than Aiden did. Aiden did not want to think with his emotions after him yelling at Colin and Isabelle, but this was not what this Beta should have done to an Alpha. This could be taken as a challenge. Aiden waited for him to let go. The last thing he needed right now was a challenge.

“Alpha, the rogues seem to be circling your territory. Especially the area between our two territories. We have reason to believe that they have a camp there. There is a patch of unclaimed land there that would be a neutral place for them to set up shop.”

“Are they causing you any trouble?” Aiden asked.

“No, not at all. Their focus seems to be all for your territory. Do you know why that is?”

Colin let out a ‘ha’, “Yeah. We have Alpha Magnus’s daughter here. She transferred packs. Pretty sure the mate that rejected her is behind all of this.”

At that moment, Isabelle was at Aiden’s side. He did not notice that she was still outside, and thought she went to her room. Though he was seething in anger at himself, he could have overlooked her. She must have overheard the mention of her or even of the rogues, he thought to himself. Considering that Garrett was rumored to be around here, he could see why this conversation would interest her. He could feel her calming presence. He snuck a sideways glance at her, and there was no anger in her body language or on her face.
